Balboa Park

On Saturday Derek and I headed into San Diego to visit Balboa Park. We just decided to explore the park itself and did not go to the zoo or anything. Our first impression was disappointing. I knew there were a lot of museums in Balboa, but I didn't realize they take up about half of the park. I was expecting a lot more wildlife and forest. It turns out there was another half of the park which were hiking trails, but we didn't make it over there. We did get some really nice pictures so here they are for your viewing pleasure.

We entered the park in the Desert and Memorial Rose Garden's. The roses were not in bloom so we don't have pictures, but here are some of the Desert Garden photos.Beautiful looking flowers, but those thorns are no joke, and I love this crazy looking cactus belowThis is the main drag. The museums and located off of this strip and the local art students come down to perform. We saw some who painted themselves as robots and others who were mime dancing. I didn't get it but they sure looked like they were taking their "art" seriously.
Derek' new fancy camera takes pretty high quality photos. We then found a Botanical Garden that was beautiful. The flowers in there were stunning.
A very happy dog. This is the Museum of Man. We didn't go in but I really liked the architecture. We found a little hiking spot and saw these tree roots.
