When we arrived there was a group of 20-30 year old guys who were there to celebrate a birthday. They also had one of their daughters who looked to be about 11 with them playing golf for the day. This course does not have tee times, you just go when the first hole opens up. Since they were waiting on another friend to arrive they let us go first, as we know now probably a mistake.

First Golf Outing
As you all know I got Derek a golf lesson for his last birthday. Ever since the lesson we have been going to the driving range and having fun hitting the golf balls. This past weekend his coworker, who loves to golf, invited us to play nine holes. We met up with Derek's coworker, Hector, at 11am Saturday for quite a memorable experience.

I can say drinking beer while playing is nice, you don't care as much when you suck. I might just stick to driving the cart and drinking the beer rather than playing through. By the time we got to the putting green on the first hole the group behind us was ready to tee off. This pretty much led to us running to and from the golf cart after every shot. We did let them know we were new to the activity, but they didn't seem real interested in taking their time. I am sure we were slower than the average group, but I was under the impression this was a leisure activity not one where you run all around the course. Needless to say when you are running and trying to rush the likelihood of a good shot is about zero.
For many of the holes I simply hit the ball from the tee and then picked it up and dropped it on the green. Feeling rushed wasn't fun so cheating was in order. We did have the opportunity to make lots of friends at the golf course. It was coated in squirrels, birds, and rabbits. I have never seen so much wild life in one place except for a zoo. Each brown lump in this photo is a squirrel.
Here is a shot of the well maintained course. I didn't expect Torrey Pines, but I did expect a lot more grass and less mud.
Woot, we made it to the ninth hole! We survived golf!
