Pacific Beach

On Saturday Derek and I decided to head down to San Diego and visit Pacific Beach. We mostly just spent the day walking and stopped into a burger place for lunch. We did find it was a popular day for kite surfing. I don't know how they keep the kites from getting tangled. We also had the pleasure of meeting Barbie this weekend. We were walking along the sidewalk, which was located behind the beach, and there was a grassy patch on our right. Barbie was there enjoying the local food.

Come, Visit California!

This weekend Derek and I decided just to relax. Saturday was pretty quiet and on Sunday I decided it would be a great day to go to the beach. I realized we have been here for two months and Derek hadn't been to the ocean yet. So we took a couple books and went to read for a little while. I am currently working on Jitterbug Perfume by Tom Robbins (loving this!) and Derek has A Farewell To Arms by Hemingway.

Anyways it was a tad breezy, but a great day to be outside.
Derek decided to go test the water temperature. It's cold!

The second reason for this post: Derek and I will be back in Maryland in June for Jen and Mark's wedding! Right now we are looking to fly out June 18th and fly home on the 23rd.

Collage

Aside from some knitting I haven't done a craft project while out in California... until today. We have been taking so many photos of the beautiful flowers out here that I wanted to decorate with some of them. Many of these plants will probably be gone soon, now we can enjoy them for the rest of the year. My photo collage:I went to Target and printed off 22 4x6 photos (I only used 14 of them). Then I bought a 16x20 frame and photo safe tape. I was trying to find double sided tape to make it easier but did not see any. Instead I put as little of the tape on each photo as could and tried to mostly just tape it to the backing. The backing I used was simply the glossy paper that came with the frame. There are two photos that I cropped 2" off of so I could get all these flowers to fit. It is almost as good as the real thing, these flowers don't die :)
